In the final tune-up before the regular season begins, the Michigan Stars faced off against Toledo United FC. Early on, the Stars were moving the ball well, but couldn't beat TUFC goalkeeper, T.J. Tomasso. Tomasso made a few incredible saves that kept the game scoreless. One of those saves turned into a quick counter attack, which saw Toledo forward, Kyle Breitmeyer, in on goal. Breitmeyer found the back of the net to put Toledo up 1-0.
Head coach, Andy Wagstaff was impressed with the Toledo side "Tomasso was fantastic. They are an experienced and very sound defensive team." Wagstaff added that he was pleased with the way his Stars looked for large portions of the game. "That's what friendlies are for. To try different players and see what works and what doesn't. I thought for much of the first half, we were creating quality chances. Their keeper made some great saves. We will take this and be ready for the NPSL season."
The Stars open the Season with Detroit City FC on Friday at Wisner. Tickets are available online for $8 or at the gate for $10.
